The Town of Amherst Property Maintenance Investigation Board is composed of three members appointed by the Town Council on a staggered basis. Terms are three years in length and begin on July 1. Preference for membership is given to contractors, engineers, architects, and members of the Town of Amherst Planning Commission and Town Council. The Town Manager acts as the clerk for the board.
The PMIB operates under the authority of Section 2-4 of the Town Code.
The PMIB meets as property maintenance issues are referred to it by the Town Council, performs site inspections as appropriate, and prepares a written recommendation regarding the complaint to the Town Council.
