The Town of Amherst Industrial Development Authority is composed of seven members appointed by the Town Council on a staggered basis. Terms are four years in length and begin on July 1.
The IDA has the authority to own and manage property; make loans to promote industry and develop trade by inducing manufacturing, industrial, governmental, nonprofit and commercial enterprises and institutions of higher education to locate in or remain in the community. The IDA operates under the authority of Sections 2-51 thru 56 of the Town Code and Section 15.2-4900 of the Code of Virginia.
The IDA meets at 5:15 PM on the first Monday of the month in the Town Hall. Dates and times are subject to cancellation or adjustment.
