The Town's policy is to seek applicants for vacant positions through advertisement in the Amherst New Era Progress and to encourage qualified employees to apply for upward classification.
Department heads examine applicants and applications for employment and recommend applicants for appointment to vacancies existing within their departments. Appointments are made on the basis of ability, training, and experience without regard to age, race, religion, sex or nationality.
